Just call me LUCKY!!!

By playing along with the VERY talented girls at http://www.funfrilled.blogspot.com/ I was entered for a chance at some great cardstock & ink pads during the month of March...well, guess what??? I checked their blog today (like I do everyday!!!) and saw that I was chosen as the winner of this scrappy goodness!!! Thanks a bunch girls!!!

As I mentioned in a previous post, we were hit by quite a spring storm last Friday! Thought I would share a few SNOW photos...
Joel thought it would be funny to "fake" snow up to their waists...so that got down on their knees in one of the drifts...

Next up are a few photos showing some rather LARGE snow drifts around town...we received 12-14 inches of snow, but the wind was blowing like crazy...thus the drifts!

& here's the highway to my parent's home...it was closed to traffic from Friday until Sunday morning! Lots of hills and can you believe all of this snow??? WOW!!!

Because the storm cancelled a BUNCH of fun plans for the weekend, I decided to do some scrappin'...& I love the layouts that I created over the weekend. I have been wanting to scrap photos of our kitties, Shadow & KitKat, so finally got the chance! I REALLY like the way both of these turned out! Aren't they adorable???

Here's Shadow:

And here's KitKat:

And a close up of the detail...I LOVE how this one turned out!

Better go for now! I'm sure there are some chores or something that I need to be doing! Have a great week!

It's a winter wonderland...

So, yesterday was quite the change in weather for us! We hadn't really had much of a winter, with barely any snow...& then, BAM! Out of nowhere, we get hit with a blizzard! Lovely! Kevin drove to work (yes, he's a bit CRAZY!) and then got stranded on the way home...yikes! Luckily, a VERY nice guy took him in for several hours...he finally made it home late in the afternoon...someone was looking out for him 0:)

Kay & Adrian, Kevin's parents, had BIG plans of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this weekend...but those plans had to be post-poned due to the blizzard...pretty bummed about it, but hopefully everyone will stay safe!!! Happy Anniversary, Gpa & Gma Milford! Love ya!

My guys are already up and at 'em this morning...all bundled up & headed out to shovel snow...the boys are asking about sledding, so hopefully we can do some of that this afternoon...with over a foot of snow...it would be PERFECT!

Have a great day...I gotta go get some scrappin' done!

Doing some catchup...

Seriously. How can life get so crazy, busy? Having 2 teenage sons, working full-time, being a mom, oh yeah, & being a wife...guess that's how life gets so crazy, busy!!! So I am REALLY enjoying being on vacation this week...not on some fabulous getaway vacation...(maybe someday!!!) but on a vacation from the J-O-B!!! I am getting lots of things caught up @ home...the things that get neglected during sports seasons, or when I'd rather be scrappin' than doing that OTHER stuff! LOL!

& yes, I am doing some creative stuff too! So thought I would share a few of my recent projects! The first project was one of those that I have been wanting to try for quite some time...making a layered paper flower! The inspiration came from a blog entry at http://www.scrapbookcircle.com/. The quick tutorial made it seem pretty simple. Plus, I wanted to create a flower for a challenge at http://www.vintageplum.com/ and I wanted to create a card for the St. Patrick's Day challenge at http://www.funfrilled.blogspot.com/. So this project knocked out several things at once! LOVE that!

This didn't EXACTLY fit the challenge at Fun Frilled...but I did stay with the GREEN theme...but I really needed a birthday card to send to someone special!!!

And here's a closeup of the flower...love how it turned out!

I have also been busy creating layouts inspired by several sketch sites...I LOVE working with sketches! They make it super easy to get to the fun stuff...playing with papers & embellies! One of my favorite sketch sites is http://www.52sketches52weeks.com/. Their weekly sketches are amazing, plus you get a chance at some great prizes!!!! Everyone loves scrappy goodies, right??? Here are 2 layouts that I created for Joel's school scrapbook...I am really trying hard to get it caught up before he graduates from the 8th grade in May! Almost done with his 6th grade year, so I think it's possible!

This is based on Sketch #9 at 52 Sketches 52 Weeks:

And this is Sketch #10...I really like how clean & simple this is! Love to keep the focus on the photos!

and here's another card...I am really enjoying card making...I am definitely a newbie card maker...but have been inspired by http://www.funfrilled.blogspot.com/. This week the challenge is to create card for Spring...what makes me think of Spring??? Butterflies! & pastel colors! I used my favorite Fiskars Threading Water border punch, some nifty machine stitching, some inking, & some really cute chipboard butterflies from Creating Keepsakes KOTM "Mix It Up" (plus a little Stickles to make them sparkle!) The tag is by K & Co. and the ribbon is Martha Stewart.

And here's a closeup of one of the sparkly butterflies!

How about a couple more layouts??? This next project was created using a sketch at http://www.dixiepieces.com/. Again, another layout for Joel's album...& yes, it is sports related as well! But now we are into track season of his 6th grade year!

The last layout I am sharing today is inspired by a sketch found at http://www.thescrappiest.blogspot.com/. She is hosting a yummy Pink Paislee giveaway and all you have to do is create a layout using a past sketch! Easy peasy!!!

Wow! That's quite a post for me! Had so much to share! & for those of you that check in on me every now & then, I haven't forgotten about Project 365...it really is one of my all time favorite projects! I am still taking photos everyday...(maybe not journaling everyday) and I just ordered pictures again of the past 2 weeks...so I am staying caught up! Just is impossible for me to post Project 365 to my blog...maybe if I didn't work full-time outside of the home??? I really do have plans of sharing more of my 365 photos...really...

Spring Break...

It is SO NICE to take a week off from work...just to hang out with my family...no BIG plans except to just try to get things caught up around the house! I did take the boys to Dodge City yesterday and we met Dad for pizza...then goofed around until the bowling alley opened. We had lots of fun...& yes, MOM beat the boys in the first game!!! They were NOT happy...

Just did some blog surfing...& found out that I won some blog CANDY from Lisa!!! So excited!!! Go check out her blog...she's also on the all-new DT for 52 Sketches 52 Weeks! http://awscrap.blogspot.com/

It's late...planning to do some serious scrapping tomorrow!!!

Another quick post...here's a card that I made for this week's challenge at http://www.funfrilled.blogspot.com/. I jumped all over this because I don't get much of a chance to do anything girly or PINK...ha, ha!!! Here's my baby girl card:

Just a quick share...

You could call me a blog hopper...& I have discovered that I really love the blogs that have music! So I finally figured out how to put music on my blog!!! So proud of myself! I chose a few songs...my favorite is "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts...& found a few older faves too! Hope you enjoy!

What else??? Oh yeah...won some scrappy goodies on Danielle's blog: http://lifeonelayoutatatime.blogspot.com/ If you haven't checked her out...you MUST! What a wonderful person! & such a giver!!! Thanks Danielle!

I took some high school Catholic youth to a get together tonight...had pizza & a movie...watched "Fireproof"...a great movie with an awesome message about christian marriage...you MUST see it! Can't wait to show it to DH & my younger son!

& here's a quick photo share: from Valentine's Day @ Burlington, CO; my father-in-law & mother-in-law, soon to be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary....aren't they just the cutest??? Love you guys!

Have a great rest of your week! (I know, I STILL need to update Project 365! Rest assured I am caught up in my album, just not on my blog...)

It's Sunday...how much can I get done today???

Too bad that I can't just hang out, read a book, watch TV...you know, mindless stuff! Our weekends are always full of stuff to do...laundry, cleaning, more laundry, posting the checkbook...then there's the digital photo project that is ONGOING!!! I love using a digi camera, however, getting photos uploaded to Shutterfly to order just never seems to happen...so I have been uploading photos all weekend, starting with July 2008 and moving forward...gotta get caught up so I at least have a backup of our photos in case our computer crashes...I also need to burn backup CD's of our photos...but that is for another weekend! ha,ha
Back to what I need to get done today...I have been promising my son that I would get his MILFORD patch sew onto the back of his letter jacket for several weeks now...so that has got to be PRIORITY!!! (& here I sit typing in a blog entry...) He'll never know!

So here's a few shares & then I will get BUSY!!!!
This first layout is one of my FAVORITES! I participated in my first ever online crop...if you haven't done this yet, you have got to give it a try! It was so much fun...chances to win, challenges, messaging...lots of fun! & now you know why my TO DO list is so long! LOL!!!
The online crop was at www.scrapbookcircle.com. The challenge was to create a layout using vintage photos and the title "The Way We Were"...so I asked my mom to bring me some of when she & dad were dating, etc. I used the Feb. '09 sketch @ www.scrapjazz.com and here are the results! I love it! I have since framed the layout & gave it to mom & dad for Valentine's Day!

The next layout was also created during the online crop at www.scrapbookcircle.com. This challenge was to use the sketch provided if so inclined and to use either beach related photos or colors. These photos are a few of my favorites from our family trip to San Diego last summer. This was the first trip to the beach/ocean for the boys...they loved it!

Finally, this layout was inspired by sketch #7 at www.52weeks52sketches.com. I just discovered this sketch website through the forum at www.scrapbookcircle.com and I love it! Their sketches are awesome...& they have a giveaway each week! Who doesn't love the chance to win scrappy goodies??? This layout features my youngest son as he rides the bench during his 6th grade year...he suited up for varsity, but did a lot of bench warming...thought this photo turned out great and the title was inspired by some OLD sports stickers that I found in my stash "Play me...or trade me". Too funny and the perfect title!!!

I've got lots to share on Project 365, but better get some other things done first! Maybe will be back later today with that post...until then, ENJOY your day!
